a. Why did you choose the specific image(s)? (3 Marks)
Each image was selected to visually reinforce the key message of each tip. For the first tip, I decided to get a photo of a dog looking straight into the camera to give the sensation of the dog walking towards the user, just like the text says “Let the Dogs Come to You”. It represents what the user will see if they use the tip at the cafe. Based on the image you can see that the dog is happily walking towards the person, so no other text is necessary for the user to understand that it is better to let the dog come to you because it means they are comfortable. The same goes for the other mages.
For tip two I chose a photo of a person giving the dog a treat. The visual illustrates “Give Them Treats”. Even if the user doesn’t read the text, they will know that the second tip is to offer treats to the dogs.
I decided to use an image of a dog holding a thank you card with its mouth for “Know the Cafe Rules”. It was a little harder to get an image to complement this tip. The visual was chosen to possibly cause curiosity and make the user read the tip. It represents the dog thanking the customer for following the rules.
Similarly to the visual for tip 3, the fourth image doesn’t necessarily represent “Thinking About Adopting?”, but it is a playful way to represent “Ask Questions!”, which aligns with my tone. Even though the text refers to the customers asking questions, the image of the dog raising its paw adds a fun and engaging element to the post. It playfully suggests the idea of asking questions in a way that aligns with the café’s friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It makes the post more visually appealing while still reinforcing the key message.
For the fifth visual to represent “Relax & Enjoy the Moment!” I chose an image of a woman petting a dog because it shows a peaceful moment between the woman and the dog, reflecting the calming and enjoyable experience the visitors can expect and what the fifth tip means.
b. Explain in detail why the image(s) was beneficial for the post. (3 Marks)
Each image helped me convey the message in some way. Some images couldn’t necessarily represent the text, but they were used to support it.
Some of the images were chosen so that even if a visitor doesn’t read the text, they can still understand the key message of each tip. For example, the dog happily walking toward the camera illustrates "Let the Dogs Come to You," reinforcing the idea of allowing dogs to approach when they feel comfortable.
Other visuals tap into emotions, making the post more engaging. The dog holding a "Thank You" card adds a charming, friendly touch to an otherwise instructional tip about following café rules. Similarly, the image of a woman petting a dog for “Relax & Enjoy the Moment” creates warmth and comfort, encouraging visitors to imagine themselves in that situation.
The images are beneficial for the post because they demonstrate each tip, making it easier for readers to retain the message without relying on too much text. The visuals also show a little bit of the atmosphere of the cafe, so by seeing happy dogs and visitors enjoying their time together, people are more encouraged to engage.
